Accessories to make the campsite greener

There are now an incredible number of camping items and accessories that allow you to considerably reduce your ecological footprint during your vacation in a recreational vehicle or under a tent.

A sleeping bag made from recycled materials

The downs made from recycled materials allow you to make sleeping bags that protect you from temperatures down to around -9 ° C. It’s not enough for four-season camping, of course, but for your spring-to-fall vacation, that’s enough! In addition, the price of a sleeping bag stuffed with ecological down is very close to, or even equal, that of bags made entirely of new materials.

In addition to sleeping bags, many camping and outdoor accessories are made partially or entirely of recycled or compostable materials. You will easily find ropes, various ties, ecological clothing and equipment of all kinds in sports shops!

Durable dishes

Plastic dishes are done! Many significantly greener alternatives are available on the market. You can simply decide to choose disposable cardboard tableware, although this is less practical if you have limited space, or buy recyclable or even compostable tableware. The latter two options are inexpensive, and allow you to bring only the number of utensils and containers you will need.

Ecological logs

Some brands are more interesting than others, depending on your needs, but ecological logs are generally very effective (heat and durability), in addition to being inexpensive. When compared to traditional logs, they turn out to be much less polluting, because they are made from recycled wood and less wood particles are released into the air during their combustion. They also gain points in terms of storage, because they require little space thanks to their regular shape.

 Natural cosmetics

Many of the products that you use on your skin will end up directly in the water table if you bathe in lakes and rivers or take a shower in nature. From sunscreen to lip balm, after-sun, soap and all types of moisturizing lotions, it's almost 100% of the products in your cosmetic cabinet that can be found in pharmacies - or homemade! - in their ecological, organic, biodegradable or natural version, while also being effective.

The only exception to this rule is the mosquito repellant. Experts say that only DEET-based insect repellents are really effective for several hours. If you decide to turn to natural or organic solutions based on lemongrass or eucalyptus, you will need to apply them every hour.
